Child safety standards

AfterThat, operated by Secundus LLC, does not tolerate child sexual abuse or exploitation in any form. These standards apply to the AfterThat web app and the AfterThat mobile apps.

What is prohibited

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) is never allowed anywhere on AfterThat: event rooms, series conversations, direct messages, photos, profiles, names, or links. That includes:

  • child sexual abuse material (CSAM), whether real, edited, drawn, or generated, and links to it;
  • sexualizing a minor in any way, including sexual comments about a child;
  • grooming, enticing, or soliciting a minor, or trying to arrange sexual contact with one;
  • sextortion, threats, or blackmail involving a minor;
  • trafficking a child, or advertising or arranging the abuse of a child;
  • using AfterThat to trade, request, or direct people to any of the above elsewhere.

Adults only

AfterThat is for adults 18 and over. People under 18 may not create an account or use the service, and we close accounts that we learn belong to someone under 18. See the Terms of service.

How to report a concern

  • In an event or series room, in the app: press and hold the message, choose Report, select Illegal content, and add a note if you can.
  • In an event or series room, on the web: use Report in the message menu or on the member's room profile.
  • In a direct message: block the person, which closes the conversation, and report it by email. Reports are not yet available inside direct messages.
  • By email, for anything: write to help@afterthat.chat with the event, series, or person involved and a short description. Do not attach or forward the material itself.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. In the United States you can also report to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children at report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678.

What we do

  • We review every report of a child safety concern.
  • When we become aware of CSAE, we remove the content and close the accounts involved.
  • We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as United States law requires, and to other authorities where the law requires it.
  • We keep the related records for as long as the law requires and cooperate with valid requests from law enforcement.
  • Organizers can remove messages and ban members from their own rooms, and a message reported by several members is hidden until it is reviewed. See the Community guidelines.
